We are looking for technical writers / information developers in Shanghai, to produce and maintain customer documentation for hardware and software products, in various areas.

Job location: China, Shanghai, Pudong / Zhangjiang district

Responsibilities:

• Writing mainly technical descriptions (user guides, design specifications, system manuals, etc.) for various products, in different technical areas, mostly telecommunication
• Editing technical content for clarity and consistency
• Adhering to English style and formatting specifications, using several documentation tools
• Keeping touch and managing contact with customers, engineers

Requirements:

• High level of English skills - both oral and written
• University degree (Telecommunications, Engineering and/or English major preferred)
• Technical qualification or at least strong technical orientation
• Understanding of telecommunication concepts and standards is an advantage
• Above average computer literacy
• Knowledge of some documentation tool and/or markup language (XML, HTML, etc.) is an advantage
• Knowledge in graphic design and user experience / usability tuning is an advantage
• Persistent personality
• Analytical and conceptual thinking
• Preciseness, attention to detail
• Good coordination skills
• Must be organized and self-motivated with ability to work independently and in virtual teams
• Highly energetic with a strong work ethic

Detailed responsibilities:

• Organize material and complete writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology, for various document types such as service, user, and operating manuals, installation guides, functional and product descriptions, reference documents.
• Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers.
• Review published materials and recommend changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding.
• Interview production and engineering personnel and read journals and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods.
• Analyze developments in specific field to determine need for revisions in previously published materials and development of new material.
• Review manufacturer's and trade catalogues, drawings and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment.
