LA PLATA, MD (July 2, 2010) – Susie Willing, a longtime employee of SDI Government Solutions, was awarded the 2009 David Packard Excellence in Acquisition Award as part of the PMS 408 Acquisition Management Team. Willing, who works as Senior Logistics Analyst and Customer Liaison Manager at the company, was presented with the award on June 25, 2010.
The David Packard Excellence in Acquisition Award is sponsored by the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (USD(AT&L)). It recognizes civilian or military organizations, groups or teams that have made or demonstrated excellent innovation and best acquisition practices.
The award, signed by the Honorable Ashton Carter, USD(AT&L), notes the PMS 408 Acquisition Management Team’s use of incremental development and deployment strategies to create a streamlined acquisition process for counter Radio Controlled Improvised Explosive Device (RC-IED) technologies.
As enemy tactics shift, the system is able to incorporate new technologies and deploy them faster to American Warfighters abroad. According to the award, the PMS 408 team has reduced RC-IED casualties by 79% over the past four years.
“It is an honor to be a recipient of this award,” said Willing. “But it’s an even greater honor knowing that the team has been so successful at saving Warfighters’ lives by continuously working to decrease casualties from RC-IED attacks.”
