Author-it Localization ManagerThe Author-it Localization Manager tracks and manages translation and localization of source content into any single- or double-byte language. It is tightly integrated with Author-it and complements Author-it's comprehensive single-source authoring, management, and publishing technology. Author-it knows what content is translatable, has been previously translated, is reused, or has been added or changed since the last translation. Only content that actually requires translation is sent to translators, which significantly reduces word count and cost of translation. This approach reduces or even eliminates repeated translations, with translators only working on new and changed content. The Localization Manager integrates with existing localization and translation processes, and uses XML to provide compatibility with translation memory tools. Translation Jobs are used to manage and track translation of content. Create any number of Jobs, define what content to include, then export to XML. Only content requiring translation is included. Zip and email the XML directly to translators or localization vendors. An XSD schema, and an XSLT transformation are included to allow easy viewing and validation. Configuration files are provided for the most popular XML compatible translation memory tools. Translatable XML contains only text and semantic markup, increasing translation memory accuracy and eliminating the effect of formatting on memory matches. Each piece of content has an accurate word count recorded and is known by all parties in the process, avoiding any surprises or disputes. Because the XML contains only content requiring translation, a PDF document can be published that visually highlights content included in the XML. These documents ensure the translator has the required context for translation and prevents unnecessary reviews. Translated XML content is automatically validated on import. Any structural discrepancies between the source and target content, such as missing links or difference in number of paragraphs, are reported. Once source content is translated and reviewed, it can be published directly to print, Help, and Web formats without tweaking or rework. When source content changes, simply click and create an update for the target libraries. This update contains a snapshot of the source content, which can be easily sent to localization vendors or internal teams. An intuitive three-way Library Compare function allows comparison between updates and the target library simultaneously. This visually shows exactly what has changed, then allows selective updating of the target library. You can easily work with localization libraries in any Author-it module. You can create or modify content with the Authoring module, publish localized content with the Publisher module, even manage projects and workflow in the Project Manager module. Each Localization Manager user needs a Localization Manager Extended User License and an Author-it Base User License. You can have multiple user licenses if you need more than one person to manage localizations. Only users that are managing the localizations need a Localization Manager license; other users creating or maintaining information do not. Your organization also needs a locale license for each language you will support. |
